On
Tuesday July 21 , 2015 The U.S.
Department of Justice announced that it would not challenge a Federal Appeal's
court decision that overturned the 2011 Obstruction of Justice conviction of
Barry Bonds , thus ending a long career ending and character destroying saga.

It
has been estimated that the investigation and trials of Barry Bonds for steroid
use , perjury and obstruction of justice has cost the taxpayers 50 million
dollars. In the wake of this latest development it begs the question ; what was
it really all about ? Was Barry Bonds so important that it justified the
complete focus of the Federal government on efforts to prosecute him ? Was
Bonds the Al Capone of Major League Baseball ?
One
of the takeaways from the decision by the 9th circuit U.S. Court of Appeals to
overturn the Obstruction of Justice conviction of Barry Bonds , is that it was
an obvious case of overreach on the part of the Federal government.
Unfortunately , most Americans lack the financial resources to go toe to toe
with the Federal government in court like Barry Bonds. Thousands of ordinary
citizens cop a plea to in order not to go bankrupt !
Going
deeper into the whole Barry Bonds case doesn't require the services of the FBI.
It all started in Burlingame , California , at World's gym. This was where
trainer Greg Anderson and others created a mecca for fitness freaks and the
Scary one was there ! Jeff Novitsky , a Special agent for the IRS at the time ,
was also a member of World's gym. He would go on to lead the steroid
investigation of Balco , Barry Bonds and Greg Anderson.

It
was common knowledge at this time, when
as a sports fan, Novitsky approached Bonds at the gym to talk , Barry , being
his normal charm school dropout self sent him packing. This put the whole Barry
Bonds investigation in motion. When I was training at the same time , the
others would gawk as the celebrity jock was being put through his paces by Greg
Anderson. Many big time jocks , including high profile professional wrestlers
came to World's gym ,it had buzz !

Being
a failed jock , Novitsky's ego couldn't handle getting the bum's rush from
Barry Bonds and being ignored by Greg Anderson. Novitsky , has gone on to be
the point man for several performance enhancing drug investigations for
multiple government agencies and recently was hired by the UFC , to cleanse
their roster of users.
Novitsky
, has parlayed his envy and dislike for successful jocks into a high profile ,
profitable career. Grand standing politicians and the U. S. Department of
Justice , have facilitated this zeal to prosecute and along the way trample on
the constitution. Novitsky has been cited by Federal court for violations of
restrictions on Unreasonable Search and Seizure as set down in the 4th
amendment.

But any hypocrisy shown by the U.S. government
and politicians on the steroid controversy pales in comparison to that shown by
the Sport's media journalist reaping profit from the mess ! Exhibit one ,is the
counterfeit concern expressed by Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams , authors
of the mega selling book about Barry Bond's alleged steroid use , " Game
of Shadows ". These pious jerks claimed their intent wasn't to make money
but to uphold the purity of baseball !
Both
these authors were employed by the San Francisco Chronicle at the time they
wrote the Bond's book. In the July 22, 2015 issue of the San Francisco
Chronicle , editor Al Saracevic hailed Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Armstrong as
" brave journalist " . Who is he kidding ! The motive for writing the
book was to make money. Bringing down Barry Bonds has been a lucrative industry
for other muck raking journalist such as Jeff Pearlman , who wrote " Barry
Bonds And The Making Of An Antihero ".

Out
of the spotlight , the main victim of the Federal government's steroid witch
hunt against Barry Bonds , Greg Anderson is the forgotten man. The government
forced him to kneel and cop a plea , gone after his Mother-in law and ex wife ,
left no stone unturned. Because he wouldn't give up the big fish Barry Bonds ,
Anderson did time for dealing steroids and then three contempt bids at a
Federal Correctional Facility for keeping his mouth shut.

Lets
not leave Major League Baseball out of this conversation ! The team owners ,
the game officials , they all looked away as baseball behemoths such as Mark
McGuire and Jose Conseco swatted moon shot home runs. The fans were packing the
stadiums as the many muscle bound jockstars shredded all the hitting records !
Game attendance around the leagues was going through the roof !
Even
though Mark McGuire and other white baseball jockstars were charm school
dropouts , the media singled Barry Bonds out for critical focus because he is a
contrary jerk. There is no doubt in my mind that racism figured in the
equation. Then national trend toward Conservative politics blended into this
toxic mix and the steroid frenzy came into being. Politicians , Journalist and
law enforcement folks like Jeff Novitsky , with a personal axe to grind, have
got it on, to the detriment of the taxpayers.

I'm
waiting for a Barry Bonds movie to come out. I know that at least a few are in
the developmental stage. I've read a couple of books about the alleged Bonds
steroid use. Now that he has been cleared of all charges associated with the
Federal allegations can I get a refund for the money I spent on these books ?
What happens now ? The Media vultures and MLB have now given a pass to Pete
Rose , Mark McGuire and others who have played the contrite game.
Professional
sports provides entertainment. Barry Bonds has provided mega entertainment
while filling up the seats for team owners. Those who profited from or were
entertained by Barry Bond's baseball performances are all complicit I guess !
This also should include those " brave journalists " !
