Recently
the 49ers announced that the price of beer and bottled water at Levi stadium
would be reduced. In my mind this is recognition by the team management that
the season ticket holders need to be compensated for what will surely be a
dismal season for the team. This is a paltry give back for the poor value of
the stadium experience for the fans.

The
San Francisco 49er ownership under John and Jed York run the team as a run of
the mill retail operation. The stadium built largely with money from the Santa
Clara Stadium Authority ( Santa Clara City Council ) is just used as a giant
cash register for Music concerts , Monster truck events , Wrestle Mania and anything
else that will reap a big profit.
The
football operation is a total insult to the ticket buying fans , everything
except the use of the bathrooms requires
an additional charge , the parking and post game traffic situation is terrible
and now the team is in the dumper ! Just like all the other NFL team owners the
York's can brush off any flak because of the billions of dollars of television
revenue.
The
object is to con a city , in this case Santa Clara , into building a new
stadium , while the team not the city comes out ahead financially. Mission
accomplished for the 49ers . Now the team has a problem keeping players on the
roster due to criminal activity and retirements. Could it be that the genius
management has lost control of the team ?

Former
head coach Jim Harbaugh , a proven winner , was forced out and then the player
exodus started. The seed for the team's downfall was planted long ago . When
the York's took over they brought a culture of hardcore big business , people
don't matter and short term replaced long term thinking. Everyone and anything
becomes replaceable .
They
didn't learn their lesson even after a succession of loser couches , Dennis
Erickson ,Mike Nolan and then Mike
Singletary. When Jim Harbaugh wouldn't kiss their ring , he had to go !
The talented Offensive and Defensive coordinators hit the road because the 49er
management really wanted a cheap short term alternative. They got a company man
, Jim Tomsula , the defensive line coach to step up. He is a short term rental
! Team president Paraag Marthe , a Stanford MBA
analytic man is now going to be the real coach ! That is right ! A
numbers cruncher is more important than a football man !

Where
was mister number cruncher when all the future criminal players were being
drafted by the team ! How come he didn't discern by meaningful patterns in data
, the probability that some of these guys would eventually run afoul of the law
? Mister number cruncher , AKA Paraag Marthe, came up with the " game
management guide " that the 49ers use . An accountant guides the play on
the field ! Put pads on the guy !
There
it is folks , using the standard business model to run a football team ,
rendering the coaches and fans obsolete ! Just crunch the numbers ! This much
from television revenue , this much from stadium seat license revenue , stadium
naming rights revenue, event revenues and on and on ! The numbers don't have
names or faces because to the San Francisco 49ers it doesn't matter ! This is the
reality of the " Billionaires Club " NFL of today .
