49ERS BLAST RAMS 35-11

Vs.

Edward Jones Dome, St. Louis, Mo - The experts were hedging their bets on this game. After two sub par games in a row it wasn't considered impossible for the St. Louis Rams to beat the slumping San Francisco 49ers. Somehow the Niners broke out of their zombie like trance and became themselves again !

Offensive coordinator Greg Roman didn't have to cook up something special . Just give the ball to  Frank Gore ! Against the less than great Indianapolis colts last Sunday Gore had only 11 carries but managed 82 yards . For some mysterious reason the Niners didn't feature him in the second half of the game.

Before the game all great Ram players were assembled and it was quite impressive. Once the game started it looked quite depressing for St.Louis. The Rams scored early in the first quarter on a 40 yard field goal by Greg Zuerlain . In the second quarter           Colin Kaepernick finally shook off the rust and started to hit his receivers. This was in between Gore breaking off chunks of yardage.

Anquan Boldin snagged a pass from 20 yards and ran it in for a touchdown. This put the score at 7-3 . It take long for the Niners to score again. Ram coach Jeff Fisher challenged a spot which would have been a first down at the St. Louis 34 yard line. This mastermind move backfired when the 49ers went for it on fourth down. The offensive line blew the Ram defensive front away . Gore broke one tackle and scampered in for a 34 yard touchdown score. The score was 14-3 at the half and it really didn't matter after that.

The Niner defense headed by the take charge Navarro Bowman stopped the Ram rushing game in its tracks. St. Louis QB Sam Bradford was pressured and was off the mark. Many of his passes were close to being intercepted in the first half. The second half was more of the same. Gore who averaged over seven yards per carry continued to pound it out ! Kaepernick connected with Vernon Davis from 12 yards out for another touchdown. The score was 21 to 3 at this point. Narvarro Bowman and the Niner defense batted many Bradford passes away and just refused to let the Rams run.

Two more 49er touchdowns in the fourth quarter turned the game into a full blown rout ! Anthony Dixon and Kendall Hunter had rushing touchdowns in this quarter. Bradford managed to hit Lance Kendricks for a 6 yard touchdown with a little over five minutes left in the game. Than he scored himself on a 2 point conversion run .

The final score was 35-11 . The San Francisco 49ers offensive and defensive units dominated the Rams ! The defense held St. Louis to only 18 yards rushing and sacked Bradford five times. Bowman had two sacks himself and poked the ball out of Bradford's hand to set up a 49er touchdown. Without the services of Aldon Smith or Patrick Willis , everyone stepped up their game.  Frank Gore with his  running set the table for the 49er offense. Colin Kaepernick played an Alex Smith type game, not flashy but efficient . He threw two touchdown passes and had no interceptions. Anquan Bolden pushed around the Ram corners and had 5 catches for 90 yards and a touchdown. The moral to the story is ! Give the ball to  Frank Gore  and let the defense rest !
