Edward Jones Dome , St.Louis - Fans let the Scary one give you a little pop quiz . Tying a game with a inter division doormat team or losing a game to the same lowly opponent, which is worse ? This last sunday on the road , the San Francisco 49ers lived down to their lowest expectations. Yes, the St. Louis Rams now have Jeff Fisher as their coach but the team hasn't changed players ! It was a totally ughly game and another great performance by the Niner defense was wasted.

Except for Frank Gore's one yard touchdown run the first half was a write off ! The hapless Ram offense could do nothing against the stout 49er defense. The big story was that QB Colin Kaepernick the newly annointed savior couldn't solve the porous St.Louis defense. They had one player acting as a spy and shut down Kaepernick's one man running game in the half. Where was the highly touted field stretching throws.

The second half wasn't really much of an improvement . The 49ers could only muster two David Akers field goals. What image really came through was Kaepernick's inexperience which led to a safety in the third quarter and an errant pitch that led to a fumble and the resultant 2 yard touchdown run by the Ram's Janoris Jenkins. This going on while a more experienced quarterback Alex Smith was pacing the sidelines ! Kaepernick couldn't adjust.

The game went to overtime and what a        surprise ! David Akers missed the possible game winning field goal ! Greg Zuerlein of the Rams didn't miss his attempt from 54 yards out and the 49ers proved that they are pretenders not contenders ! The Scary one mentioned this in the last article. I cannot fathom what genius game plan was behind this atrocious contest !

Let me briefly list the obvious problems the San Francisco 49ers were aware of before this game.

1. Colin Kaepernick was starting only his third NFL game.

2. Frank Gore needed another runner to help . He appeared to have injured his left shoulder and had to carry the ball 23 times !

3. Once again the 49ers had a big penalty problem, 11 for 97 yards.

4. Kicker David Akers can't cut it anymore. He is a great guy but this is business folks.

5. The Niners have a PR problem with coach Jim Harbaugh. A kick ass , over the top emotional coach only works if you win !

6. The ticket buying fans in San Francisco didn't contemplate an offensive rebuild in mid season.

7. Every opponent that watches game film now knows how to shut down the limited playbook of Colin Kaepernick.

Note : This article is dedicated to the long suffering season ticket holders of the San Francisco 49ers and Alex Smith , who by now has quit counting how many times he has been thrown under the bus by 49er management !
