GIANTS OUTLAST METS 7-6

By Scary Barry Rodriguez                May 4, 2011

( SAN FRANCISCO ) - Lately hits and runs have been in short supply for the San Francisco Giants. They have been taking it on the chin from the fearsome likes of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Nationals and most recently the New York Mets. Yesterday they finally toughed one out 7-6 to win in the 10th inning over a sloppy Met's team. Just when it looked as though the Giants would have to call in the U.S. Navy Seals to rescue them, somehow they produced a mind boggling seven runs but it wasn't easy !

In the first inning the Met's Carlos Beltran blasted a three run homer off of Ryan Vogelsong and Ike Davis also took him deep. Yet the Giant's managed to fight back and win it on a Aubrey Huff homer in the tenth inning.  Closer Brian Wilson shut the door without too much drama. Giant's reliever Javier Lopez looked like he was going to give the game away in the Met's half of the ninth inning when the bases were loaded with only one out. Then Javier induced Josh Thole , who already had three hits to hit into a home-to-first double play. This was a sign that things are starting to come around for San Francisco.

Met's knuckle-baller R.A. Dickey was giving the Giants fits until the third inning when he gave up four runs. He was also driving his catcher Thole nuts and many wild. throws allowed Giant runners to advance. Prior to this game up until the third inning the Giants have looked extremely off balanced at the plate. Yesterday Miquel Tejada looked lost at the plate and Huff had been 0 for 20 until his homer in the tenth inning. Manager Bruce Bochy has had to mix and match his lineup due to injuries to Andres Torres , Pablo Sandoval and others.

Lets all hope that the sleeping Giants are finally awake and ready to vanquish the competition. This season the beards alone won't make it happen !

Note: When the Scary one was in the U.S. Navy ages ago, I thought Seals had big whiskers and webbed feet. The two legged variety were really secret when I was a sailor boy. Unfortunately , if the Giants win games with the help of the Navy Seals , commissioner Bud Selig would undoubtedly weigh in on the matter and throw the victories out ! It was just wishful thinking on my part.
