RAIDERS BOUNCED BY BRONCOS 34-14

Vs.

O.co Coliseum , Oakland , CA - Sunday the season long misery ended for the Oakland Raiders , who were decimated by the Denver Broncos. It was like Denver was playing a second string team in a pre season game. The first half was just a show put on by Payton Manning and the Bronco offense ! The Raiders stumbled around like a punch drunk boxer.

Brock Osweiler

In the second half Brock Osweiler replaced Manning at quarterback for the Broncos. He didn't do much . He didn't have to ! The Raiders had only one scoring opportunity in the third quarter. Sebastian Janikowski missed a 42 yard field goal. That was it for the home team in the quarter.

Rod Streator

In the fourth quarter Terrelle Pryor hit Rod Streator for a 14 yard touchdown and NIck Kasa for a 9 yard touchdown. Matt Prater hit a 54 yard field goal for the only Bronco score in the second half. The crowd had something to cheer about I suppose.

Darren McFadden

In this loss , Pryor did a decent job at quarterback but the Raiders never had enough game clock to get into the game. He went 21/38 with 207 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately he was also the Raider's leading rusher with 49 yards on 6 carries. Rashad Jennings and Darren McFadden had less than 20 yards rushing between them. It was that kind of a game for the Raiders. Receiver Denarius Moore had 4 catches for 63 yards and was only other bright spot for the offense.

Demaryius Thomas

The Broncos had three receivers with five or more receptions. Demaryius Thomas had 6 catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Manning spread the ball around to several receivers. Montee Ball rushed for 72 yards on 10 carries for the Broncos , who had 458 total yards. They had 9 rushing first downs against the Oakland Raider defense.

The Raider's 2013 season ended badly. The courageous defensive unit was completely worn down over the course of a tough season. It really showed in this game and collectively the last three games. The entire unit was patchwork due to the salary cap problem. The offensive unit under achieved this season even taking into consideration the newness of the coaching staff. The quarterback question has not been solved . The confidence Terrelle Pryor has in himself is not matched by the Raider organization. Darren McFadden is history. Now under the salary cap and having a dismal record , Oakland will be bulking up in the 2014 draft.

One Raider fan was holding up a sign that read " You are fired ". This isn't the case yet for second year coach Dennis Allen. The team is in a rebuilding mode and General Manager Reggie McKenzie's acid test will be the upcoming draft. Although the fans are totally frustrated there is no quick way to rebuild a franchise. Oakland did fairly well during the first half of the 2013 season. The 4-12 record doesn't reflect that . While the city of Oakland falls further into decline , all the Raiders have to worry about is putting together a winning team. Their blue collar fans have to worry about still having a job tomorrow !
