RAIDERS LOSE UGLY TO CHARGERS 26-13

Vs.

Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, CA - The Oakland Raiders did their best to Keep the San Diego Charger's playoff hopes alive losing to them on a road game. Both teams played sloppy football. The Bolts fumbled around and still managed to win due to the even more sloppy play of the Raiders. It was ugly football.

Nick Novak
Phillip Rivers
Darren McFadden

In the first quarter , on their first offensive drive the Raiders set the tempo of the game by drawing two penalties. The Chargers were responsible for the only scoring in the period on a Nick Novak 27 yard field goal . The second quarter started well for Oakland when Phillip Rivers fumbled and the Raiders recovered deep in Charger territory. Darren McFadden in a rare guest appearance scored a touchdown a 5 yard run. Very Briefly the Raiders led the game 7-3.

Mile Burris
Ryan Mathews
Sebastian Janikowski

As usual for Oakland they couldn't hold the Chargers down and they went on a long scoring drive aided by a Mile Burris roughing the passer penalty. Ryan Mathews ran it in from 7 yards out for a touchdown for the Bolts. The Raider defense recovered another fumble at the Chargers 20 yard line but could only manage a 20 yard Sebastian Janikowski field goal.  At the half the score was tied up 10-10.

Mike Jenkins
Keenan Allen
The second half for the Oakland Raiders has been like a trip into the Bermuda triangle and this game proved no different. The Raider offense was MIA , while the Chargers scored twice , once on a 4 yard pass to Keenan Allen for a touchdown and again on another Nick Novak field goal from 48 yards out. Might I add that the Charger's touchdown scoring drive was aid by a Mike Jenkins taunting penalty !

Trailing 20-10 going into the fourth quarter Oakland again did an el foldo ! San Diego scored twice on two Nick Novak field goals. One was from 28 yards out and the other was from 33 yards out. The Chargers didn't exactly tear up the field but against the Raiders they did enough to win. The Raider offense went on two futile drives. On which they fully manifested their pathetic clock management skills. It was like they were sleep walking. Their last drive ended on the Charger's 2 yard line ! The game was a real yawner !

Matt McGloin

In this game the Raider's meager statistics did tell the story. They had only 59 yards rushing to the Chargers 148 . The Bolts time of possession was 34:42 minutes to Oakland's 25:18. Oakland drew 12 penalties ! Both Matt McGloin and Phillip Rivers didn't light up the field with their play. San Diego's Ryan Mathews was the game's big performer rushing for 99 yards on 25 carries and one touchdown. For Oakland it was the 12 penalties that brought them down !

Charles Woodson
Dennis Allen

Lately Oakland's veteran safety Charles Woodson has spoken for the defensive unit . Every game now he has no answer for their poor performance. Coach Dennis Allen , is most likely one and done as the head coach for the Oakland Raiders. It is telling that the team has declined to extend the contracts of the assistant coaches. The NFL is the big boy league so next season's housecleaning will not come as a surprise ! For now the hometown fans are more menacing to opposing teams than the team on the field !
