O.co Coliseum , Oakland , CA - The Kansas City Chiefs were afforded an early
Christmas present courtesy of the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders allowed a
franchise record 56 points to be scored against them ! The so called
" game manager " Alex Smith directed the Chiefs to a playoff
clinching victory. The only thing Kansas City needed on this Sunday was the one
man gang called Jamaal Charles, who scored five touchdowns !

In
the first quarter the Raider defense was victimized by two short screen passes
to the left side that Jamaal Charles turned into 49 yard and 39 yard
touchdown plays. While Oakland scored a mere 3 points on a Sebastian Janikowski
field goal from 34 yards out the Chiefs found away to score again. Eric Berry
intercepted a Matt McGloin pass and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown. At
this point in the game a crystal ball wasn't required to predict the outcome !

In the second quarter the Raiders scored
twice on two 1 yard touchdown runs from Rashad Jennings. The problem was what
the Raiders received they managed to give back in the form of two turnovers , a
fumble by McGloin and another interception. This resulted in another Jamaal
Charles touchdown , this time on a 1 yard run and a 16 yard pass reception for
a touchdown.The game had turned into the Jamaal Charles show !

The Chief's defensive unit has been sub par
recently but in this game it didn't matter. Oakland scored twice in the third quarter
on a 6 yard pass to Andre Holmes and a 14 yard pass to Mychal Rivera. The
Raiders were scoring every quarter but it hardly mattered. One more
fumble helped the Chiefs maintain their lead. Of course Jamaal Charles
scored another touchdown on a 71 yard pass play and Sean McGrath took in a 6
yard pass for a touchdown . Only the third quarter and Kansas City has scored 7
touchdowns !

added the icing on the cake in the fourth quarter when McGloin threw two more
inteceptions and Terrelle Pryor in a very limited role managed to throw a third
interception ! The Chiefs were tired, having to score so much ! Knile Davis
scored on a 17 yard run to put the final score at 56-31.

This has been a very long season for the
Oakland Raider's defensive unit. They"ve been the Lone Ranger out on the
field without the help of Tonto ( the offense ) in most games ! In this game
they had nothing left to give. The combination of a few good blocks and short
passes to the speedy Jamaal Charles broke down the walls !
The Raiders
committed 7 turnovers , five interceptions and two fumbles. Even the offense putting 31 points on the board couldn't overcome the miscues.
On
paper the final statistics for the game mostly favored the Oakland Raiders.
They had more total yards 461 to the Chiefs 384 , more time of possession 34:07
minutes to 25.53 and more total plays. The 7 turnovers overshadowed everything
else ! The one bright spot was Rashad Jennings who rushed for 91 yards on 23
carries and two touchdowns. Week in and week out Jennings has been carrying the
water for the Raider offense while football experts keep talking about the
Darren McFadden's eminent return. Matt McGloin went 18 for 35 for 297 yards and
two touchdowns. The four interceptions turned his efforts into a big negative.
The
salary cap problem has turned the 2013 version of the Oakland Raiders into a
toothless tiger . This is no consolation for the long suffering fans who have
endured eleven losing seasons in a row ! Its hasn't been easy for the players
on a team put together like an upside down jigsaw puzzle . After the last game
they will empty out their lockers knowing that most likely they will not return
. Two more games to go and memories of the endless losses will fade. Two more
games , then the fanatical fans of the " black hole " can put away
their menacing costumes until the 2014 season , dreaming of something better !
