MIKE TYSON : THE UNDISPUTED TRUTH ?

Just a few days ago the British government announced that Mike Tyson wouldn't be allowed to enter the UK to promote his show " The Undisputed Truth ". The actual truth is that in 2000 , well after his conviction for the rape of Desiree Washington , the government of Britain had the opportunity to step up and ban him from entering the UK for his fight with Lou Savarese in Scotland. The British Home Secretary at the time, Jack Straw , made an exception for " Iron Mike " stating that banning him would result in a " loss of economic benefit " for the UK. This was over the objections of Scottish Women's groups !

This time around his ban is due to an Immigration law enacted in December 2012 that holds that convicted felons with over a four year sentence are not allowed in the UK. Back in 2000 , Scary Barry was one of the few sport's journalist that thought that Mike Tyson shouldn't be allowed to enter the UK because of his rape conviction.






Now here we are in 2013 and the controversy has not gone away. Recently I had the occasion to watch the video version of Mike Tyson's one man Broadway play , directed by Spike Lee , titled " The Undisputed Truth ". The show is entertaining and mildly interesting. This article is not being written to review the show ! Whatever the entertainment takeaway from the show was, it couldn't erase the disgust I felt because " Iron Mike " didn't man up and admit to his transgressions. His life story was glossed over into a fantasy instead of the brutal reality of what he is !

The celebrities in his audiences , the boxing dilettantes and the curious are fascinated with this glimpse into the mind of a famous sociopath ! Its so exciting. During the show he takes a cheap shot at Robbin Givens and her Mother. He doesn't discuss how he beat up Givens. Poor little Mike. Then when he gets to the part in the narrative about his rape conviction he pleads innocence. I believe in giving everyone a second chance but Mike  Tyson refuses to accept responsibility for his 

past misdeeds ! Where is the truth in that ?

I can't figure how any women in his audiences can just ignore the fact that they are being entertained by a convicted rapist ! Spike Lee and his posse have picked the wrong man to martyr ! Iron Mike is trying to convince everyone that he is a changed human being. The first step begins when he accepts responsibility for his acts. In the body of his show he brags  about beating up people. Perhaps he is beyond redemption !

Mike Tyson is on the one way street of bad Karma ! Those around him should split before they are covered with all his bad vibes. Everyone loves a good movie villain but in the real world bad guys like Mike Tyson have nothing to offer to anyone but grief !  For the me the undisputed truth is that " Iron Mike " wouldn't know the truth if he ran into it!
