RAIDERS WIN HOME OPENER 19-9

         Vs.

By Scary Barry Rodriguez       September 15, 2013

Oakland Colosseum , Oakland     Before a crowd of 49,000 victory starved fans, the Oakland Raiders prevailed over the hapless Jacksonville Jaguars. It was ugly football ! Prior to the game the television broadcasting crew suggested that it was a contest to determine the worst team in the NFL. In that regard Jacksonville won that distinction hands down !

The Raider defense deserved the game ball , holding the Jaguars to only 34 yards rushing. This put the pressure on Jacksonville QB Chad Henne and he proved to be terribly inaccurate throughout the game. The Jaguars were without a first down for the first 36 minutes of the game !

On Oakland's first drive of the game Marcel Reece scored on a 11 yard touchdown run. This was the best the Raider offense would look all game long. Kicker                     Sebastian Janikowski booted four field goals to account for 12 of Oakland's 19 points. Darren McFadden ran for 129 yards on 19 carries and QB Tarelle Pryor ran for 50 yards on 9 carries. This was enough scoring considering the performance of the Raider defensive unit. The now healthy McFadden was back in his best running form.

To Pryor's credit he didn't turn the ball over. The next game against the Denver Broncos and the red hot Payton Manning will undoubtedly hasten Pryor's football education. For now Raider fans can rejoice and bask in the glory of the victory. Oakland coach          Dennis Allen and his staff will have some sleepless nights preparing for the Broncos in the mile high city !
