RAIDERS LOSE UGLY TO GIANTS 24-20

Vs.

East Rutherford , N. J. --  The Oakland Raiders missed an opportunity to even their record last week against the Philadelphia Eagles. This game   represented another chance to get a victory against a very bad version of a New York Giants team that just two years ago won a Super Bowl ! The Giants even with their 2-6 record have a talented roster that has experience in winning. This was the only thing separating the two teams in this game.

T. Jones
Terrelle Pryor
Oakland started the game on the right foot when T. Jones fumbled the opening kickoff return and it was recovered by the Raiders at the Giants 27 yard line. This led to a short drive that culminated in Terrelle Pryor scoring on a 1 yard touchdown run. Still in the first quarter the Giant's Cooper Taylor blocked a Marquette King punt and Demonte Moore scooped up the ball , scoring on a 21 yard run to tie the score at 7-7. Then the Raiders scored again on a 33 yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski. Eli Manning and New York offense looked terrible !

Cooper Taylor
Marquette King
The constant this season for the Oakland Raiders has been their stout defense. They didn't disappoint in the second quarter. Raider CB Tracy Porter picked off a Manning pass and returned it 43 yards for a touchdown. This was Manning's 16th interception of the 2013 season. The Giants scored again on a Rueben Randle 5 yard touchdown reception. The score at the half was 17-14 in favor of Oakland. The scoring summary for the half can be misleading because both teams had played sloppy football up until this point. Pryor had thrown some very inadvisable passes , the offensive line was in a shambles and the the Giant defenders had blown right pass the special teams line to block a punt that led to a touchdown !

Sebastian Janikowski
Eli Manning
The third quarter was about the ball control running of Andre Brown of the Giants and a Terrelle Pryor interception. Terrell Thomas picked off a Pryor pass which set up a 1 yard touchdown run by Andre Brown. This was the only scoring by New York in the quarter. Janikowski booted a 24 yard field goal to keep the game close at 21-20 .

CB Tracy Porter
Rueben Randle
The Raider offense could do nothing in the fourth quarter. Pryor made some risky pass attempts , the offensive line buckled and it was business as usual again for the 2013 version of the Oakland Raiders. The Giants only managed a Josh Brown field goal in the quarter that put the score at 24-20 but that was enough to turn back Oakland.

Andre Brown
Terrell Thomas
Both teams played sloppy. Eli Manning continued to play as if his real self was abducted by aliens before the season began. The  pounding runs of Andre Brown is what really won the game for New York. It kept the inept Raider offense off the field ! The Raiders are in that rebuild mode . Their offensive line is terrible, Terrelle Pryor makes the mistakes that rookies make and his receiving corp hasn't helped any ! In the first half Denarius Moore dropped some easy catches. It appeared that he was posing rather than focusing on making receptions.

Josh Brown
Greg Olson

Darren McFadden

Denarius Moore
Rashad Jennings

In a season of lowlights Rashad Jennings continued to provide the only consistent aspect of the offense by running for 88 yards on 20 carries. The booming punts of Marquette King kept the Giants in bad field position. Defensive coordinator Jason Tarver has done a good job and it was evident in this game. Greg Olson the offensive coordinator did what he could considering the state of the Raider offensive line and Pryor's rookie mistakes. Lets just consider the 2013 season as a tryout for some players and for others such as the injury prone Darren McFadden, the end of the line.
