CLASSLESS SEAHAWKS LOSE SUPERBOWL XLIX 28-24

The clash between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks at the University of Phoenix stadium was like a duel between two rival Mafia clans. The Patriots representing the older traditional mob and the Seahawks representing the young upstarts , a Joey Gallo gang type gang , showing nobody any respect by design. Remember Joey got whacked !

Both of these teams used tactics similar to those used by gangsters. The New England Patriots had been involved in a scandal involving the video taping of their opponent's defensive signals and the most recently, the " deflate gate " involving the possible tampering of the weight of game balls . Coach Bill Belichick and Tom Brady deflected or evaded questions by the media in both of these scandals. They exhibited great skill in saying nothing , just short of citing the fifth amendment. Wow ! Shades of Sam " Momo " Giancana and Big Paulie ! The only thing missing was dark shades and Fedora's.

The Seahawks under the reign of Coach Pete Carroll have conducted themselves in the fashion of street hoods. They are allowed to indulge in pushing and smack talk after every game tackle with impunity . The NFL has let their thug behavior slide. Richard Sherman engages in nonstop rants like a mad dog while Marshawn Lynch is proud to rudely stiff the press and take whatever fine is levied by the NFL for his blatant violations of the league CBA. Coach Carroll just smirks and has adopted a " boys will be boys " attitude. Their in everyone's face including game officials. They get paid to be punks !

After three quarters of Superbowl XLIX , it seemed that the Seahawks had managed to gain the upper hand. Patriot quarterback Tom Brady had thrown two interceptions in the first half , which negated the two touchdowns he had thrown. He seemed off his game and glassy eyed even though the Seahawk pass rush hadn't been that great. Going into the fourth quarter Seattle led New England by the score of 24-14.

The Seahawks and the Patriots didn't realize that a force greater then the NFL was going to determine the game's outcome. Just like what happened in their game against the Green Bay Packers , everything had seemed to fall into place for the Seahawks. Even when Patriots scored two touchdowns to go ahead 28-24 it still seemed like nothing could stop the cocky , end zone celebrating , smack talking Seahawks.    They were still carrying a lucky horseshoe.

Despite the best efforts of Tom Brady and the New England offense, all seemed for naught. With only only 1:14 left on the game clock , Seattle receiver Jermaine Kearse made a miraculous catch of a tipped pass , lying on his back , after it hit his leg and arm. After this 33 yard reception  the ball rested on the New England five yard line. Richard Sherman , a smirking Coach Carroll and the Seahawk team were already in full celebration mode.

The next play saw Mr. " Beast mode " Marshawn Lynch bust through the Patriot defense for 4 yards to the 1 yard line. Only second down with 1 yard to go and 26 seconds left on the game clock ! Then , Coach Pete Carroll had to pay the bill for all the bad karma he had amassed from his tenure at USC ! He had skipped town , leaving that football program in shambles !

Now , with the big moment at hand , the player friendly football coach suffered a severe case of bad judgement and the bottom dropped out ! I suspect he couldn't resist trying to be clever against his old mentor Coach Belichick. So he had the ever steady Russell Wilson attempt a short pass to a cutting Ricardo Lockette . With over 120 million people watching the television broadcast , Malcom Butler , an undrafted defensive corner  cut in front of Lockette and made a game saving interception ! Instantly , all the wind went out of the Seahawk's sails, like one big giant whoosh !

The effect was stunning ! It seemed that time stood still ! Coach Carroll looked like he had the taste slapped right out of his smirking mouth and Richard Sherman was almost in tears. Defeat had been snatched from the jaws of certain victory ! The Patriots had been waiting for their execution when fate intervened ! What happened next was very predictable . The Seahawks in keeping with their thug ways started a brawl that momentarily stopped the game ! After this classless act was abated , the New England offense took a knee to end the game.

Along with everyone else , the Patriots were somewhat confused by this sudden turn of good fortune. It was like returning from the dead ! It took a couple of minutes to process ! Coach Pete Carroll was shaken , appearing to age years in one second. The way Seattle lost the game will be talked about in the press forever ! The decision to pass instead of using the brute force of Marshawn Lynch to punch the ball in , will go down as one of the worst play calls of all time ! This will be Pete Carroll's legacy. The Seattle Seahawk's victory in Superbowl XLVIII will be totally forgotten !

 

One could imagine the fallout if the Seattle Seahawks had been allowed to win back to back titles. After winning one Superbowl, they had been acting like high school students. Drunk with their own success , indulging in gratuitous macho posturing , they behave rudely , attempt to start a fight after every play and try to intimidate everyone , including the game officials. This isn't the wholesome image the NFL wants to portray ! Superbowl XLIX will be known as the " big brawl " not the exciting game it was !  Even if it was the " Jerks versus Jerks " bowl !

Note : In regards to the halftime entertainment . All the off the hook lighting , special effects and a cast of hundreds can't obscure the fact that Katy Perry and Missy Elliot were MIA when talent was handed out. The much anticipated commercials were largely a bust !
