Marshawn Lynch |

Coming in the wake of Richard
Sherman's post game rant , the antics of Marshawn Lynch towards the press
Tuesday , on Media day for Super Bowl shouldn't be a surprise. I can only
conclude that the Seattle Seahawk organization condones its players not living
up to their media obligations per the Collective Bargaining Agreement they
signed with the NFL.
Deon Sanders |
Marshawn
Lynch is the poster boy for what NFL players and the league really think about
the media. He spoke for a little over six minutes and didn't really take any
questions. NFL network commentator Deon Sanders followed him off the set and
attempted to get him to open up. Despite Sanders overtly brown nosing
Lynch he got the same result !

Greg Aiello |
After
this obvious display of Lynch's contempt for the media , NFL league spokesman
Greg Aiello , could only lamely state " players are required to
participate and he participated. " This representative for Skittles
candies is taking his cues from his organization and the NFL. Its cool to blow
off the media.
Coach Pete Carroll is playing Mister smooth and has everyone conned that he is so nice ! He is a player's coach and all that nonsense ! His smack talking crew has Carte blanche to behave the way they want anytime , anywhere ! Coach Carroll's methods worked so well at USC , that they lost their eligibility for a time and Reggie Bush had to give back his Heiseman trophy. He left that program in shambles !

The
fans are still hero worshiping the Seahawk players. They also thinks its cool
that that the players blow off the media. Buried under all the phony glamor of
the Super Bowl is the fact that the working press still has a job to do. Jock
morons like Marshawn Lynch , protected by their team and the NFL don't make it
easy !
Yesterday
I was watching a clip from the ESPN television network hosted by Max Kellerman
and Marcellus Wiley an ex NFL player. The beefy Mr. Wiley , almost too big for
his suit , aggressively defended Marshawn Lynch's right to blow off the media.
When Max Kellerman started to take a different position Wiley became visibly
angry on the air !

Wiley's attitude is shared by most of the current NFL player's. They believe their doing you a favor when they talk to you. In the case of the Seattle Seahawks , maybe their team also thinks this way. Why shouldn't Lynch , Sherman and others think this way when the NFL has their own media guys doing soft ball interviews designed to make the players and the league look good ? The NFL teams get to treat the media like chumps ! The one exception the NFL network !
Every year it gets more difficult to cover the NFL. The reason why is manifested in the behavior of the Seattle Seahawk players towards the media. Marshawn Lynch has followed up on his Media day performance with an equally moronic display the very next day ! His fellow players answer questions for him. He likes to use the word boss in his limited comments. It is quite possible that Marshawn Lynch and his team mates feel that they don't have a boss ! They just might be right !
Note:
Football fans everywhere ! If you are masochists keep watching the NFL product
and the charm school dropout players in the league. They don't respect you, the
game ticket prices force you to watch all the games on television and worst of
all , boring ex jocks are filling up all the game analyst and commentator
slots.
