Candlestick Point, San Francisco - For the Buffalo Bills playing the San Francisco 49ers, it was almost a " Total Recall " moment from last week when their defense gave up 550 yards , but only worse ! It was like the 25 car wreck that happened at the Talladega Super speedway during a NASCAR event , also on Sunday. The Niners set an NFL record by amassing over 300 yards on the ground and over 300 yards through the air !

At the start of the game there was little inkling that the 49ers would have 621 yards in total offense. The only scoring in the first quarter on the part of the Bills was when Rian Lindell kicked a 31 yard field goal, which matched an earlier 49er field goal . Who would have guessed that would cap all of Buffalo's scoring for the entire game ! From the second quarter on it was all Niners ! The under the East coast media radar Alex Smith, AKA " the game manager " , passed for two touchdowns .      Kyle Williams caught a 43 yard touchdown pass and  Michael Crabtree caught another from 28 yards out. The score at the half was 17-3 in favor of the San Francisco 49ers.

In the third quarter the Buffalo Bill's offense didn't score as the Niner defense had an answer for everything they tried. The game was effectively iced for the 49ers when        RB Frank Gore ran the ball in from a yard out for a touchdown. This put the score at 24-3 in favor of San Francisco ! The Niners were receiving good running production from Both Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter . This kept the Buffalo defense off balance. The 49er offense used many different formations plus Colin Kaepernick in the Wildcat .

The fourth quarter was more of the same ! The Niner offense scored three more touchdowns. Mario Manningham caught a 10 yard touchdown pass, Colin Kapepernick scored on a 16 yard run from the Wildcat formation and Anthony Dixon ran the ball in from 3 yards out to cap the scoring at 45-3. Midway through the fourth quarter the Niners fans held a mass exodus of the stadium.

For the San Francisco 49ers the spotlight was on the success of the offensive game plan masterminded by Greg Roman and brilliantly executed by QB Alex Smith. Mixing the run with mid range passing, the Niners had a balanced attack throughout the game. The defense slowly tightened everything down until Buffalo's QB Ryan Fitzpatrick had very little opportunity to succeed. Patrick Willis caused a fumble with a strip and       Chris Culliver had an interception.

This was Alex Smith's best game as a member of the San Francisco 49ers. He was 18/24 for 303 yards and three touchdowns . What a far cry from the coach Mike Nolan and Mike Singletary days of using Smith as a whipping boy for the Niner's failures ! If Alex was playing in New York, the media would be conferring sainthood upon him ! It was also a breakout game for receiver Michael Crabtree who has been playing under the shadow of Vernon Davis. Crabtree pulled in 6 passes for 113 yards and one touchdown . Up until this season Crabtree has just been a possession receiver. Kudos go to  Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter for being the bedrock of the 311 yard running attack. This running tandem is developing into one of the best in the NFL.

Yet with all the positives the 49ers still need to work on their Special Teams performance and their penchant for being penalized , 7 for 53 yards . With the New York Giants on the horizon the Niners cannot let themselves be complacent ! There were many times in the game when penalties slowed down or shut down offensive drives. The pass rush must be stronger against Eli Manning. For now fans can bask in the glow of a great complete game victory for the home team !

Note : This article is dedicated to the Buffalo Bill's head coach Chan Gailey. He is surely in need of God's help in the 2012 NFL season !
