NINERS PUSH AROUND RAIDERS 17-3

RAIDER THUG FANS RUIN FAN EXPERIENCE

By Scary Barry Rodriguez          August 21, 2011

San Francisco- Every year the Oakland Raiders travel to Candlestick park to play the San Francisco Forty Niners in the preseason and the game should be the whole story . Unfortunately, quite a few thugs that sport Raider gear use the game as an opportunity to upstage the game by starting fights and generally representing the bad boy image of Oakland Raider fans. This preseason has proved no different. There were shootings outside the stadium and fights leading to injury inside the stadium.

Now, turning to the game, the 49ers definitely shoved the Raiders all over the field. Missing in action for Oakland was Jocoby Ford,Louis Murphy and Darren McFadden. The broadcast commentators for the Oakland Raiders emphasized during the game how the team's intention is to physically dominate their opponents but it wasn't in evidence in this game. The Niner's offensive line opened up gigantic holes for a posse of running backs . When the smoke had cleared the 49ers had 239 rushing yards for the game. Anthony Dixon, Kendall Hunter and Xavier Omon ripped through the Raider's defense like tissue paper.

The Oakland Raiders under coach Hue Jackson have yet to overcome the NFL lockout blues and to add to their woes quarterback Jason Campbell was knocked out of the game in the second quarter. Last week the Niners were in disarray this week the Raiders looked out of sync. Kyle Boller replaced Campbell at QB and did reasonably well. Longtime observers know that Boller's strong arm can't overcome his mistakes so Campbell's health is a huge issue for the regular season.

The prognosis for the 49ers this year seemed doubtful. Yet watching this game gave hope to the hometown fans. The young offensive line was impressive and not just the starters. The Niners are loaded with talent at the running back positions. I don't envy Anthony Dixon having to compete with Kendall Hunter and Xavier Omon for a job. Alex Smith played his usual mixed result game. He can look real good on the two drives yet not produce points. Colin Kaepernick is still green but any casual observer can't quickly note his smooth movements and confidence. He is the future.

The Raiders offensive line needs work and defensive line has always been weak against the run. Coach Jackson is going to have to motivate his troops to transcend the rhetoric and perform in an organized fashion. The large shadow of owner Al Davis presides over anyone that wants to coach Oakland. Win or lose the Raiders make money every year. The trapdoor is always ready for another head coach to bite the dust. The Raider's have a tough schedule early in the 2011 season so look for the honeymoon period to be extremely short for coach Jackson !
