(SAN FRANCISCO) - On Wednesday April 13, 2011 the Federales finally had something to show for eight years and over 8 million dollars, the conviction of Barry Bonds on a Federal charge of obstruction of justice. This was the big fish they had been gunning for ! It was like a KKK scene out of " The Birth Of The Nation " flick. The posse had caught their prey ! Actually it was not too impressive. It really was about a charm school dropout jock superstar who didn't pay his employee's ( including Kimberly Bell ) enough and they ratted him out !
Sometimes being a cheapskate can cost you plenty. In this case Barry's reputation was deep sixed ! Steve and Kathy Hoskins together with Kimberly bell I wouldn't trust with a kid's piggy bank. The Federal government felt it was a priority to prove to all the young aspiring jocks that you can't go against the man ! Bonds was supposed to prostrate himself before the God of Major League Baseball and beg for forgiveness. In exchange for this monster serving of humble pie they allowed Giambi to keep playing and a well rehearsed Alex Rodriguez did his bit to plead his case. Barry just didn't get it.
What was he thinking ? Just because he made the owners rich did he think it wasn't necessary to kiss butt !
In the San Francisco Giant's home opener the fans gave a mighty cheer to pitcher Gaylord Perry . How different it would have been if baseball had decided that throwing spitballs was worthy of a big investigation and punishment ! First it was alright to get juiced . Then the League needed to find a villian and all of a sudden using steroids was so serious that grandstanding politicians like John McCain were using the issue to get publicity !
To be sure Barry Bond's still has a sock O money to help him get by but Greg Anderson is another matter. The Media has been speculating for years that Anderson was waiting for a big payoff to shut his mouth. I guess they'll finally figure it out that Bonds is a big time cheapskate and not into putting out big bucks to anyone. Anderson is the only person that showed any integrity throughout this extended drama. He took his lumps and didn't to the Press. Maybe he will eventually get an opportunity to tell his side of the story, how the Federales cut corners to get their man !
