49ERS RISE UP BEAT REDSKINS 27-6

Vs.

By Scary Barry Rodriguez          November 25, 2013

FedEx Field , Landover , MD - Both the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington Redskins are led by young talented quarterbacks , who are having a tough time in the 2013 season. Washington is going nowhere but the Niners still have the opportunity to reach the playoffs. Sunday the Arizona Cardinals beat up the Kansas Chiefs and improving their record to 7-4 , a full game ahead of last years NFC champions , the San Francisco 49ers.

Colin Kaepernick

Anquan Boldin
The Redskins , on the other hand continued to go down the rocky road to another dismal defeat. At the start of the game in the first quarter I expected both teams to under perform. The Niners finally broke out of their offensive doldrums . Kaepernick directed a 7 play 63 yard drive that culminated in a 19 yard touchdown pass to Anquan Boldin. In this first quarter Kaepernick managed to distribute his passes to three different receivers , Mario Manningham , Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis.

It didn,t take long for Robert Griffith III to run into trouble. Still in the first quart he was intercepted by Donte Whitner and took a big hit by Aldon Smith. The Niners only managed to score  a 24 yard field goal by Phil Dawson , after this turnover. The Scary one was ready for the offense to shut down as they had in previous games.

Griffith managed to move the offense in the second quarter but Washington could only score six  points on two K. Forbath field goals of 36 and 35 yards respectively. At the half the Niners led 10-6. The score was close but RGIII was taking some big hits.

Aldon Smith

The third quarter was dominated by the 49ers on both sides of the ball. Kaepernick passed for two more touch downs . One was to Anquan Boldin from 6 yards out , the other from 1 yard out . The Niners had scored 24 points but the way the defensive unit was playing the Redskins had no chance ! Ahmad Brooks , Aldon Smith , Patrick Willis and Justin Smith made RGIII's life miserable. The hometown crowd booed their team throughout the game.

The Washington defense stacked the box and shut down the Niner running game putting the game in the hands of Kaepernick who has struggled all season in the passing game. They lost the gamble. Kaepernick delivered and kept his poise , completing 15/24 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns. Anquan Boldin had a big game catching 5 passes for 94 yards and two touchdowns. Vernon Davis had 4 catches for 70 yards and one touchdown . Boldin averaged 18.8 yards per reception and Davis 17.5 yards per reception. This was quite a departure from most of the games this season.

Ahmad Brooks
Patrick Willis
The Niner offense was successful three out of four times in the red zone and had 304 total yards. Robert Griffith III only managed to complete 12/27 for 127 yards and no touchdowns. He really didn't have much of a chance against the fired up 49er defense. LaMichael James handled the Kick off and punt returns very well. He had a 40 yard punt return that set up one of the Niner touchdown. Overall the special team play was improved this game.

Next the 49ers play the new and improved St. Louis Rams. The NFC west has no push over teams anymore and the Niners will have to keep improving if they want to even reach the wildcard round of the playoffs. The coaching staff came up with a good game plan for a change ! Maybe this game represents a return of Colin Kaepernick's confidence. One doesn't know for certain but its a good start !

This game is dedicated to all the true 49er fans who been have disappointed with team this 2013 season. Maybe the adversity has finally managed to pump some life back into the floundering offense. We shall see !
