The Scary one is not ashamed to admit to being a fan of sports entertainment such as the WWE and TNA wrestling promotions. Its relaxing for me to view a world where there are bad guys ( heels ) and good guys ( baby faces ) and I'm assured of some laughs. When I tire of watching phoney politicians, interacting with walking weasels and the new generation of text messaging , blue tooth wearing , laptop crunching imitation human beings, watching sports entertainment is a break.
Lately the TOTAL IMPACT wrestling show, a TNA production has hit a dead zone. Its refried Hulk Hogan. He looks so tired its like the Moses of wrestling trying to get it up. The Hulkster had his day but clearly it is now over. Rick Flair , a veteran of too many hits and too much tanning booth time has lost whatever charisma he once had. The story lines on the show are terrible. The lady Knock Out wrestlers look like refugees from a junkies only brothel. What can I say most of the TNA lineup can't put together sentences in an entertaining way !
For sure their is talent in the TNA. Robert Roode and Beer Money, A. J. Styles , the Motor City Machine Guns and others. Yet the stiffs outnumber the winners. Take Matt Morgan " The Blueprint " for example. Matt is big enough but can't really express a story line. The Abyss , is a big flabby guy wearing a ManKind type mask and talks like a baby. Kurt Angle, his ex wife and Jeff Jarrett put out some heat but its not enough to make me keep watching. Mr. Bischof , the architect of the WCW has just been doing a replay of his glory days with little success.
The WWE has had its ups and downs. It is evident from the product on the television screen that their money has been well spent. The graphics and visual presentation is top notch. The story lines involving Mark Henry " The World's Strongest Man " have been good. Unfortunately the Big Show does not convey anger and intensity as well as Randy Orton and is not the a good adversary for Mark Henry. Alberto Del Rio has lived up to the hype and is always good for a laugh. Turning the Truth into a heel was a genius move that has been delivering ever since. The Game, Triple H has been the strong point of the entire production. It is obvious that he is intelligent, entertaining and yet comes across as a real person.
C.M. Punk is my favorite wrestling entertainer because he is a rebel, a good talker and represents the anti-hero image as opposed to the establishment types put out there as management. We all can identify with double dealing big shots with big egos. This guy has actual acting talent. The Divas are attractive sans multiple tattoos and make all the wrestling moves just like the dudes. Kelly Kelly has really stepped up her game and shown athletic agility.
The WWE is a total entertainment package and a good alternative to watching a boring NFL game. The cardboard cutout talking heads, usually ex jocks spout boring cliches and endless statistics that can't cover up whats not happening on the field. Whats not happening is entertainment folks ! They shot themselves in the foot by having a lockout. Now the Scary one depends on the WWE for his mojo !
